GOP Donor Hurls Rocks At GOP Headquaters?
Thu Dec 21, 2006 at 04:05:42 PM PDT
Raw Story has a link to a story run on the Ohio NBC affiliate NBC4i.com. The
article describes how an Ohio man was arrested for throwing rocks at the local GOP headquarters:
Police arrested 58-year-old Kenneth Dwayne Thomas in connection with the incident.
He is currently being held at the Franklin County jail and police said he will face criminal damaging charges, Tate reported.
According to investigators, Thomas also made threats toward President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.
Officials said he will be investigated by the Secret Service because of those comments, Tate reported.
"I know there are people out there who don’t like Republicans," McClelland said. "But to say that we’re a cancer and should be exterminated, according to what he said to police, that’s a little over the top."
Disgusting NY Post tactic

This photo is front and center on BLOGS4BUSH.
The New York Post reports the "breaking news" that the
recent Osama video contains a warning of attack
for any state that votes Bush on Nov. 2. And
of course any state that votes Kerry will be
spared.
What a pathetic, despicable, desparate
attempt by the wingers to scare the public.
Virginia trends blue (SurveyUSA)
Fri Oct 22, 2004 at 11:32:41 AM PDT
SurveyUSA (10/16 - 10/18)
46% Kerry
50% Bush
4% Other/Undecided
664 likely voters
+- 3.9% Margin of Error
Best news:
"AFTER GOP CONVENTION & SWIFT-BOAT ADS,
KERRY TRAILED BY 11 IN SEPTEMBER.
NOW, KERRY TRAILS BY 4."
The momentum is clearly in Kerry's favor.
Taking into account the tendency of undecideds to
strongly break for the challenger, Virginia is
still in play.
All you hardworking VA volunteers keep it up. GOTV!
CNN/AP spin

One of the current articles over at CNN is
Patriot Act foes force House vote
Lead graf:
The House planned to vote Thursday on a proposal by Rep. Bernard Sanders, I-Vermont, that would prevent the government from using the Patriot Act to demand records from book stores and libraries.
Notice the use of words with a strongly negative connotation: foes and force in the title.
But what really jumped out at me was this paragraph about midway through the article:
Rather than an omen of an impending showdown, the
veto threat underscored the administration's
determination to take an aggressive stance on law
enforcement and terrorism.
WTF? This is clearly spin inserted by a sympathetic editor to soften what will be an embarrasing
rebuke of the president.
Bad News for Big Media

Good news for the millions of grassroot activist
who opposed the FCC's recent billion dollar gift
to the biggest media corporations:
Court Reverses F.C.C's Media Ownership Rules
From the New York Times
WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) - A U.S.
appeals court refused on Thursday to allow
loosened federal rules on media ownership to take
effect, dealing a blow to large broadcasters like
News Corp. and Tribune Co. looking to extend their reach.

Update [2004-6-24 20:39:2 by jacobo]:
More from Common Cause
Earlier this week, in another victory for media reform, Senator Byron Dorgan (D-
ND) won approval for an amendment to a defense authorization bill that would completely
repeal the June 2nd rules. Common Cause and other reform groups will be
working to make sure that the amendment is not stripped out of the defense department
authorization bill when the House and Senate meet in conference to resolve
the difference on their respective defense bills.
