Texas Precinct Convention Update: You do NOT have to be Present to Vote/Count

Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 09:31:20 AM PDT

There is a recommended diary that is posting incorrect information regarding whether participants can leave after signing in.  The correct answer to this question is YES.  I am a precinct chair and I received this memo last night.

If, after the convention has been called to order and participants have signed in, any participant who wishes to leave may do so, and their sign in WILL count toward the delegate allocation for each candidate.

This is important because many people cannot stay for various reasons and would be discouraged from participating.  Here is the link to the official document on the Texas Democratic Party Website.

The train's leaving — Bill and Hillary should be aboard

If you are wondering about the Texas mindset.  Look no further than this article in today's Houston Chronicle.  http://www.chron.com/...
Many of my fellow Texans took a dim view of Bill’s marginalization of South Carolina voters.

Despite all this, there is a road to redemption for the Clintons. Hillary should simply admit the obvious: It's all over. If she has any lingering doubts, just look to Wisconsin, where she lost overwhelmingly in the state that practically invented white people. If she needs more proof, take it on faith from one who has lived here forever: She's going to lose the Texas primary, too. Against all odds, Barack Obama will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. Hillary should concede the race now and, along with her husband, throw her wholehearted support to Obama.

Obama also picked up another Texas superdelegate yesterday when my rep Loyd Doggitt endorsed Barack.
